Take a Break and avoid that burn out feeling

With all of the pressures we feel from society along with those we inflict on ourselves, it is easy to force yourself into toxic habits. Suddenly, we find ourselves working harder and longer. The ultimate goal is to obtain perfection: home, health, family, looks, career. We push ourselves to lead the ideal lives. Essentially, we are keeping up with the Jones’ or in today’s world the Kardashians. With social media as an enormous presence in our everyday lives, it is hard not to compare ourselves to others and try to obtain what they have.

The downside to this obsession is that it can lead to unnecessary stresses, anxieties, and ultimately unhappiness. It is absolutely okay to not do anything. Sometimes you just need to take time to yourself and refresh.

Learning to let go for a moment can be difficult. However, it is very much needed for you to keep your sanity, but to also enjoy life. Here is a list of activities you could do to in your down time:

  • Go for a walk or a run (whichever you fancy).
  • Try some yoga poses to stretch your body and relax.
  • Take a bubble bath or shower.
  • Read a book.
  • Take a nap.
  • Start a craft project.
  • Put together a puzzle.
  • Binge watch TV.
  • Go to the gym or workout at home.
  • Write a short story.
  • Listen to some music.
  • Ride your bike.
  • Daydream.

There are plenty of other activities you could try. The idea is that you slow down to decompress and enjoy your life. The outside world can put a lot of stress on your shoulders. Don’t let it get you down and interfere with you simply having fun. Remember that perfection is a perspective and it is all right to take time to care for yourself.
