When looking at a blank canvas, it’s really hard to imagine what you would like to fill it with. There are so many things you would like to express, but somehow your brain has gone blank much like your canvas at the moment. After trying so hard, you still have no idea. What should you create? When you find yourself in one of these moments, try one of these pointers for inspiration:
- Look at the room around you. It is filled with objects that you can focus on like a chair, book, a pen, etc. Make one of these objects your subjects.
- Think of all the things you love and use one of these. For example I love my pets, my family, tea, and a lot of other things.
- Nature is full of beauty. There so many plants, animals, and scenes. Go on a long walk in your neighborhood, garden, or park.

- Music puts people in moods and gives them the opportunity to play scenes in their heads. Put on some tunes and let your mind wander. You may come up with something interesting.
- Look back at your schedule. There may be some events that occurred in the last few days that stand out to you. Maybe you can find a way to express those moments.
- Just doodle. Sometimes just scribbling on a piece of paper will awaken your imagination. Sometimes, I will literally close my eyes and scribble. When I open my eyes, I will make out a scene or an object from the scribbles.
Everything you do and are surrounded by is inspiration. Take some time to look around and experience these moments. If you are up to the challenge, try and look at these moments from different perspectives for extra inspiration.
