Don’t get me wrong, I love to enjoy a drink or two. However, I am at a stage in my life where getting wasted is just not as appealing to me as it used to be. Think about it all the puking, hangovers, wasted days recovering, drama, and you also have to babysit adults! That is not my idea of fun. The worst part is that I have a few friends who don’t mind this lifestyle. At times, I am lost trying to think of what activities we can all do together and still have fun without involving alcohol. Here are some of the ideas I came up with:
So what activities can you do
- Playing cards or a board game
- Making crafts
- Going for a walk
- Working out
- Getting a bite to eat
- Baking
- Going to flea markets
- Having a spa day
- Having a movie night
- Doing some yoga
- Go for a picnic
- Get some coffee
- Go mini golfing
- Enjoy some ice cream

These are just a number of activities you can do with any of your friends. If you feel like it, you can always have a glass or two of a drink, but be sure to stress that the idea is not to get belligerent. If there are friends that absolutely can’t hang without a drink, you need to explain to them why it’s important to you for them to be sober. If there behavior persists, it might be a good time to re-evaluate your friendships and take some time away from them. It’s not a big ask for someone to be sober for a few hours and if it is for them, then they might have something deeper going on.
We only have one life to live, so spend your free time having personal and quality time with the people who are closest to you. It’s truly heartwarming to look back on your life and see so many loving moments.
